Aflash started operations in 1999 as a fiber-optic component manufacturer, soon branching off into laser and fiber-optic sensors. In 2000 it divested the communications division to concentrate in industrial instrumentation as well as R&D contracts in photonics.

Aflash Photonics expertise in polarimetry and its merge in 2007 with Alight, a provider of sheet PVA polarizers, established the joined company as a strong player in the field of light polarization.
